but the guy has explored everything from alt country, to death/heavy metal to softer sounds just him and the acoustic guitar. follows his muse no matter what that is, and no matter what anyone else may say. but part of what makes ryan adams so brilliant is he is a true artist. i'd argue thats probably harder to write a pop tune than a indie/rock tune. but the word poppy is not something i'd even say in the same breath as Ryan adams. In fact, I really think that Ryan shows an influence from PW and The Replacements.Ĭertainly im not going to argue with the OP, as exploring the dischography of ryan adams is highly recommended. He kind of reminds me of Paul Westerberg in that way. He does have some stuff that I can see being too poppy for some. I love his newest one and Heartbreaker because it's just him and an acoustic guitar. Dude, it is in your best interest to check out everything he has.Maybe it was something else that I checked out a few months ago, but whatever it was (can't remember the song or album) but it was way too poppy for me.
